Considered the site of America's first official Thanksgiving celebration (in 1619), the Berkeley Plantation features an 18th-century Georgian mansion surrounded by magnificent gardens. It's located west of Norfolk, overlooking the James River. Visitors can peruse the plantation's sizable collection of antiques, or take guided tours of the grounds, led by guides in period costumes.
